My Story
About Me
For as long as I can remember, horses have been not just a part of my life, but who I am. They have shaped me in every possible way. I was introduced to horses by my family where I grew up on a 75 Acre Ranch located in Carbondale, Colorado. It was a picturesque mountain ranch where mother and father had initially purchased with hopes to make it a ranch style orphanage and rehabilitation center called “Second Chance Ranch”. As time went on things changed and it transformed into my dad bred and raised horses of all kinds. We had ranch horses, paint horses, ponies, jumping horses and probably more that I cannot even recall. My start began with jumping horses and lessons in English Riding. My innate love for horses would turn into something that shaped my entire life. It led me to find family, the love of my life, hard work, big wins, big losses, countless memories and now the opportunity to get to raise my own daughter in this way of life.
Cutting Horses
I was eight years old when my father began his journey into the Cutting Horse Industry and after working my first horse, I knew that was exactly what I wanted for the rest of my life. It was exhilarating and magical. A horse understanding, comprehending, reading a cow and using their purse athletic ability and desire that is in their blood to work a cow was by far the most incredible feeling I had ever felt on the back of a horse, Cutting became my life and my dream. My father opened doors everyday and cheered me on and supported me as I chased every dream. I went onto spend a substantial portion of my teenage years at Dirk Blakesley's, many years at Gary Gonsalves' and six years at Matt and Megan Millers working, showing and learning the different ways of cutting, horsemanship, and life. Through all of these years, I rode a lot of horses, I was blessed to meet very special people and I grew up in the best way ever,
Graphic Design
My father had a very successful Design and Advertising Business in Carbondale through my whole childhood. He was a photographer by trade, and was always clever with imagery and words. I loved learning from him and exploring his creations, The equine industry opened a door for me when McKenzie Merrill started Kenzington Media and I began to explore my own creativity in ad design, social media management, photo and video productions and getting to learn from some of the most unique and talented artists. It was an incredible opportunity to explore the marketing world with a subject that has been my lifelong passion. I went on to create the marketing for 817 Horse Sales and the logo and look for APEX Auctions. My passion and drive to work in the marketing world is fueled by the horses and the enjoyment I get of celebrating them and getting to tell their stories.
